If you’re new to web hosting and software development, in can be daunting and overwhelming to know what providers or technologies you should put your trust in.

That’s why I’ve created this page – to show off the talents of the companies and technologies that help me to run this website and my related development projects.

Web Hosting

Company: Memset Ltd.

Memset provide (amongst other services) virtual server hosting from their datacentres based in the UK.

I was a customer of Memset back in 2004, and I’ve watched them continue to invest in their infrastructure and server platform (miniservers) over the years, as well as launching new services such as Memstore.

Over the years I’ve been with a number of other providers, but when Memset launcher their “next-gen” virtual server platform in September 2016, I immediately switched back.

Their new platform includes a bunch of really cool features, included as standard – a feature-set very few other providers can match or beat for the price:

  • shared, fully configurable hardware firewall
  • advanced service monitoring with e-mail and SMS notifications
  • out-of-band SSH and VNC access – SSH to the serial line, VNC to the actual console

If you take on a Memstore service from them as well (£1 setup for pay-as-you-go) you can even snapshot your miniserver to your Memstore, and restore them at any time, giving you full control over your data recovery.

All specifications and prices were correct at time of publishing – 1st November 2016.
